The magic of Christmas…

As the holidays are approaching, the end of the year euphoria is getting stronger. We are all reflecting on the past year, making plans for the next one, thinking of new year’s resolutions… buying presents, new Christmas trees and decorations, but also making and sending Christmas cards. It is the most wonderful time of the year! What I’ve noticed recently, at least at our own home, is that each year our Christmas tree got bigger. Last Christmas it even reached the ceiling. However, this year is somehow different. The tree got really small, somehow a mini-tree compared to the one last year. Nevertheless, the magic around it is much greater! First time in 30 years I decided to cut, glue, draw

Prvi put posle skoro trideset i kusur godina sam seckao, lepio, crtao, pravio novogodišnje čestitke za babu, dedu, tetku, uju, najbolje drugare...

Blog guest - Milorad Cavic

Milorad Cavic, Olympic medallist, several time world and European champion and record holder, but above all a dad of one adorable boy, is this month’s #Blog guest, talking about winter wonders and swimming with his son. All swimmers “love” winter, especially when you have those morning trainings? Find me a swimmer who likes winter, and I will show you a liar! I’m just kidding. As long as the water in the swimming pool is higher than 25C, and there is enough warm water to take a shower, we are more than happy! Does this mean, since became a father, that winter suits you better? I have always been a sun loving person, but now I am looking forward to every opportunity I get to play with my son

Winter wonderland

When the snow queen arrives, of course she takes her whole entourage with her: wind, frost, snowflakes, blizzard, and ice. So what, if she has arrived? We are not bears to hide in a cave and wait for spring to come. I also sure many would like to do exactly that. One famous Serbian poet, Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj, wrote a poem to explain to children that they should not be afraid of winter: Winter, winter – so what if you are here … What can you do to me? Nowadays, I actually think this poem is intended more for us, parents, moms and dads. Are winter, rain, or wind excuses really good enough to justify what we dislike doing, to get out of our winter comfort and warm beds? I agree that some people

Blog guest - Nadja Higl

Nadja Higl, Serbia’s most successful female swimmer, is speaking for the Swimming Dad as a Blog guest. She is the first Serbian female swimmer who managed to become a world champion, European record holder, but above all she is now a mum of two lovely boys. What does time mean for you? Time, for me, is a relative term… good times are often short (or so they may seem to us), and those less good ones seem to last longer and become never ending. Therefore, as we know time flies, we should focus on the time we have now, this very moment, enjoy all the benefits of life. Because, somehow, all happens for a reason. Does time heal? Personally, time is not a doctor or some kind of remedy, however, th

Blog gost - Nadja Higl

Daddy’s or Grandma’s Time Recipe

Nowadays, when we all seem to be in some kind of a rush and trying to catch more of that strange thing called time, we often lose track of it, moreover, of ourselves. Wise man once said, “The man who can manage his time, can manage anything”. Hmmm, does this refer to mums and dads? My wife would say: Yes of course, with good organisation of your time you can do everything. Those who know her, also know that I am in great shape, but I am still breaking my back! The truth is, when we take a step back, time is the same for all of us, no matter what jobs we do or who we are, whether we are mums or dads. Each day we have the same chances, because we all have those 24 hours at our disposal, 168 ho
